At the Geneva auto show Bentley has released full details on the ultra-luxury Mulsanne model.

And lots of details there are. First off, though, let's start with the powertrain figures, which are impressive enough. The Bentley Mulsanne comes with a twin-turbocharged 6.75 liter V8 engine with 512 PS (505 bhp / 377 kW) and a massive 1020 Nm (752 lb-ft) of torque kicking in at an early 1750 rpm.

But that is just the start of it because, as Bentley says, they only begin to build their cars where other automakers end, and the true exceptionalism of the Mulsanne is found in its luxury fixtures. "Over 170 hours - almost half the entire build process - goes into crafting the interior of the new Mulsanne," says head of interior design at Bentley Robin Page.

Rolling on standard 20-inch wheels (21-inch optional) the Mulsanne is more like a presidential suite on wheels than a vehicle with a few luxury fittings. There's the 60 GB multi-media system with an 8-inch dashboard screen and a 14-speaker audio system which also includes USB connectivity. The leather finish is available in 24 different colors, there are 23 seatbelt colors to choose from, the finest woods line the cabin, and Bentley's own carpeting with more fiber depth and density line the floor. It takes 15 hours just to hand-stitch the steering wheel.

Volkswagen released details of the new Polo GTI during its unveiling at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show. Said to be the safest and most economical Polo GTI ever, this pocket rocket comes fitted with ESP, ABS, anti-slip regulation (ASR), front passenger airbags, head-thorax side airbags and the Golf GTI's XDS system aimed at reducing understeering for improved handling.

Instead of a 1.8 TSI or 2.0 TSI, VW used the smaller twincharged 1.4 TSI to extract power. It makes a good 132kW (180 PS / 178 hp) at a dizzy 6200rpm while maximum torque is 249Nm (184 lb-ft) between 2,000rpm and 4,500rpm. The standard transmission is a 7-speed double-clutch which transfers power to the front wheels. Gear changes can be made through the actual gear lever or via shift paddles behind the steering wheel. VW says the 1,194kg (2,632 lbs) Polo GTI accelerates from 0 - 100km/h in 6.9 seconds to reach a top end of 229km/h (142 mph). Average fuel consumption is 5.9 litres per 100km (47.8 mpg imp / 39.8 mpg US) and C02 emissions are quoted at 139g/km.

Engineers used the McPherson front suspension and semi-independent rear suspension combination. They also lowered the ride height by 15 millimetres compared to the normal Polo range. Wheels used are 5-lug 7Jx17 with 215/40 R17 87V tyres stuck around them.

Features (some of which are optional) include LED daytime running lights, corner marker lights, cornering lights, bi-xenon headlights, an electrically operated panoramic tilt/slide sunroof and dual chrome tailpipes. A three-spoke leather-covered steering wheel greets the driver while other sporty items include brushed chrome door handles and the parking brake.

The all-new Polo GTI will be available in 3 or 5-door configurations, depending on the market. Sales start in Germany this May and then to Europe and Japan.

Peugeot showed off a new four-door hybrid sedan at the Geneva Motor Show today. Called "5 by Peugeot," the car represents the French automaker's potential successor to both 407 and 607 with a "large luxury vehicle" dubbed 508.

At 4,860mm long, by 1,880mm wide, by 1,420 high, the car is a bit smaller in every direction compared to the current BMW 5-Series. It uses a front-mounted 163 bhp (122 kW / 165 PS) 2.0-liter diesel engine, which works with a 27 kW electric motor at the back. The two combine for 147 kW / 200 PS when both systems are in use, providing power to all four wheels. All-electric driving is also possible at low speeds.

Performance specs were not given, but the hybrid does have very low emissions of about 99 grams of CO2 per kilometer when the engine is operating. Average fuel consumption is listed at 3.8 liters per 100 km (74.3 mpg imp / 61.9 mpg US).

The vehicle's face is meant to look like a cat with LED tube lighting providing accents up front, similar to the Peugeot SR1 concept revealed earlier this year. Side windows and handles are marked by brushed-aluminum. In back, two-tone lighting gives the car's rear a futuristic and recognizable look.

Hybrid4 technology seen on the 5 by Peugeot will debut on the Peugeot 3008 beginning next year.

BRABUS, the German tuner proud to also be classified as an automaker in its own right, has unveiled its latest creation - the BRABUS E V12 Coupe.

Based on the latest Mercedes E-Class coupe, BRABUS calls this its Gran Turismo. It comes with a BRABUS SV12 R biturbo engine which churns out a healthy 800 PS (788 bhp/588 kW) and a peak torque figure of 1,420 Nm (1,047 lb-ft). Suffice to say, 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) comes in at under 4 seconds - 3.7 to be exact. The 200 km/h (124 mph) mark is reached in only 9.9 seconds and 300 km/h (186 mph) in 23.9 seconds. The car is electronically limited to a top speed of 350 km/h (218 mph).

BRABUS is definitely deserving of the automaker credential since it adds so much of its own technology to this E-Class Coupe. It takes the standard 5.5 liter V12 and expands it up to a 6.3 liter engine by means of a new crankshaft, larger cylinder bore and bigger pistons. BRABUS also adds a sizable contribution of its own electronic work to the engine.

The BRABUS E V12 Coupe comes with a 5-speed automatic transmission, reinforced by BRABUS, and a high-performance limited slip differential for the rear-wheel drive system. Also added are a new air intake system and a stainless-steel sport exhaust system with free-flow metal catalysts.

To help manage the extra wind from the excessive amount of power is a carbon fiber body kit that helps reduce lift on the front end with a sport fender with integrated air vents and other cooling air inlet and outlets as well as other aerodynamic paneling. Integrated LED daytime running lights are also part of the package. A coil-over suspension with adjustable ride height boosts agility. High-performance brakes and 19-inch rims also match the demands of the E V12 Coupe's power rating.

Cost? 478,000 euros.
