Hi all, I just arrived in Banja Luka - to stay here for a while..
So far not a lot of knowledge of local language, sorry, that will take some time..
My question to people is where I could find a living Kefir-cultus (Kefir grains), so that I and friends of mine here in Banja Luka, can cultivate our home made Kefir?
I´ve been asking around quite a bit, but so far nobody (not even people that make diary products) was familiar with the Kefir grain or home cultivation of Kefir. That is a bit strange, as here in Bosnia you can buy the yoghurt like product that the Kefir grains creates from cow or goat milk, in almost every shop!
For those of you not familiar with Kefir: it's an active yeast and bactaria, the grains have the color (white, to whiteyellow) and shape of pieces of a coliflour, but it's soft. They feed on milk, which within 24 hours they change into a yoghurt like slightly acid substance, that is claimed to have many nutritional and health benefits (like improving digestion and stimulation of imume system). More info on
www.kefir.org or many other sites.
Do you cultivate Kefir, or you know who does, or how I could achieve one for cultivation - please reply
Thank you very much in advance!
