Alfa Romeo has officially unveiled the 147 replacement, the Giulietta.

The attractive five-door hatchback features a "trilobe shape" front end, LED daytime running lights, and hidden rear door handles. Inside, the cabin has aluminum accents, a row of rocker switches, and Alfa's familiar DNA (Dynamic, Normal and All Weather) system.

Under the hood, petrol options include the 88 kW (120 PS) 1.4TB, the 125 kW (170 PS) 1.4TB MultiAir, and the 173 kW (235 PS) 1750 TBi. Diesel fans can choose from the 77 kW (105 PS) 1.6 JTDM or the 125 kW (170 PS) 2.0 JTDM.

Volkswagen has introduced the all-new Sharan MPV at the Geneva Motor Show. This is the third-generation version of the model and is the biggest one yet. It measures 4.85 metres long, 1.9m wide but 1.72m lower. The wheelbase is 2.92m long.

Designed by Walter de Silva and Klaus Bischoff (the VW brand's Chief Designer), the Sharan reflects the company's new design philosophy. The front end features styling such as the gloss black bars across the radiator grille, integrated chrome clips and a chrome VW logo. Optional bi-xenon lights can be ordered and they come with LED daytime running lights.

Another new feature is the rear sliding door aimed at making rear access easier. A choice of three base version interiors with five, six or seven seats will be available. There is also the flexible EasyFold seat system that allows seats on the second and third rows to be easily stowed away in the floor.

Some interior appointments include an electrically operated panoramic sliding roof, a 3-zone climate control system and a radio/ CD sound system as standard.

The Sharan will initially be offered with four direct injection turbo petrol (TSI) and turbo diesel (TDI) engines. At the base is a 110 kW (150 PS) TSI motor, followed by a 147 kW (200 PS) version. The TDIs push out 103 kW (140 PS) and 125 kW (170 PS) each respectively. VW says the 103kW TDI averages 5.5 litres per 100km (51.4 mpg) and returns 145g/km in C02 emissions from its 70 litre fuel tank.

In European markets where it will first be available, the all-new Sharan can be ordered from this month. A full market launch is scheduled for the coming summer.

Abt Sportsline has unveiled a modified Audi A8 at the Geneva Motor Show.

Dubbed the AS8, the car features a new front spoiler, aggressive side skirts, a revised rear apron, and stylish 20-inch wheels (21-inchers are also available).

In terms of performance, Abt tweaked the 4.2-liter TDI engine to produce 385 PS (283 kW / 380 hp) and 880 Nm (649 lb-ft) of torque. This represents a modest increase of 35 PS (26 kW) and 80 Nm (59 lb-ft), compared to the standard car.

According to Abt, the "AS8 has been optimized to meet the high demands of its drivers: ABT Sportsline has not changed the elegant glider into a racing car, but carefully into a confident and sporty automobile."

Skoda has unveiled hatchback and estate versions of the Fabia vRS in Geneva.

Boasting a sporty design, the vRS features new bumpers, a contrasting color scheme, red brake calipers, and a rear diffuser. Inside, the models have height-adjustable sports seats, a sports steering wheel (with paddle shifters), and stainless steel pedals.

Under the hood, power comes from a twin-charged 1.4-liter four-cylinder petrol engine with 180 PS (132 kW / 178 bhp). Backed up by a seven-speed DSG transmission, the vRS accelerates from 0-62 mph in 7.3 seconds, before topping out at 140 mph (225 km/h) - 141 mph (227 km/h) in the estate. While those numbers aren't terribly impressive, the cars average 44.1 mpg UK (6.4l /100km).

If the performance figures didn't win you over, perhaps the chassis will. It feature a sports-tuned suspension and an electronic XDS differential which "brakes the inside front wheel to increase the torque on the outside front wheel" for improved cornering agility.
