Bend Macabrum je osnovan od strane G.D iz Vukovara i A.S. iz Banja Luke, sa ciljem da se stvori bend koji će svirati depresivni i melanholični black metal, ima dosta eksperimentisanja sa zvukom. Bend je počeo sa radom u novembru 2010. godine. Svu muziku i aranžmane radi G.D., a sve tekstove i vokalne dionice A.S. Bend je zavrsio snimanje EP izdanja, a to EP izdanje pratiće puni album. Teme koje bend obrađuje u svojim tekstovima i pjesmama su: samoća, smrt, izolacija… Na oficijalnoj myspace stranici benda, možete poslušati sve tri pjesme sa EP izdanja. Radi se punom parom na albumu. Trenutno su pregovori sa nekim izdavackim kucama oko izdavanja albuma. Kao i EP i album ce biti sniman u SoundCheck Studiju u Vukovaru.

Prvi EP “Epoch” benda Macabrum će biti izdan u diy-tape formatu od strane benda, u vrlo ograničenom tiražu; sa pro-print kasetnim omotom. Cijena kasete će biti: 4KM (RS/ bih), 20KUNA (Hrvatska), 200RSD (Srbija), 2€ (Evropa). Razmjene su DOBRO DOŠLE. Kasete će biti dostupne za prodaju/razmjenu 4.1.2011. godine. Kaseta je najjaci nosac zvuka uz plocu. A trenutno radimo na albumu za kojeg smo pregovoru sa nekim izdavacima da se izda na orginal disku, ali trazimo i kasetno i izdanje na ploci.

Doduse, to vise dodje kao atmospheric/experimental black metal, sa dosta melodija, ima tu i nekih depressive i epic momenata... uglavnom ima svega i eksperimentisemo sa zvukom i vokalima.

Sinoć poslušao ono što ima na spejsu, nisam znao da ste onolika komercijala :D Sve neke fine melodijice, klavir, orgulje. Ona pjesma, mislim da je Sacrifice the Source...ima lijep rif, odnosno onu temu koja se ponavlja kroz pjesmu. U suštini, sve sjajno zvuči dok onaj jarac neki ne počne da pjeva, tad magija nestaje :D

I, Corruption of...mislim, meni ne smetaju teme u black metalu, ako su lijepo obrađene, da se vidi nit pjesme i da ima smisla. Ovaj mi je nekako tipičan, prepun opštih mjesta.

This little EP is what would happen if ever there was to be a band with Andre Olbrich on guitars and Abbath on vocals. The music is very melodic and simple especially due to the heavy use of pianos. But did I say that it is bad thing? Not at all. This EP represents what best can be described as melodic black metal. The highlight is the high caliber composition and songwriting .The songs are highly simple yet they are tremendously effective. The pianos also add to the music and create an excellent atmosphere.

The guitar work is simple yet quite good. The guitar melodies used mostly belong to power metal. The vocal work is standard black metal vocal work. The drum work is again quite good. The pianos are played well and they play their part efficiently. The production is amazing. The guitars are mixed superbly and so are the pianos. The pianos do not interfere with the actual heaviness of the songs.

So moving on to the individual songs;

1. Corruption Of Flesh And Soul: We start with excellent catchy riffs. The song picks up pace rather quickly. The guitar melodies used are just wonderful. At the one minute mark we have a fine interlude. Around the #:35 mark the pace changes dramatically which very nicely done.

2. Cold Sight: This one starts with a good piano intro which takes us straight into heavy and rough guitar melodies. The pace changes in the song are good, and despite being over seven minutes in length it does not get boring. Around the 5th minute mark we have another fine interlude.

3.Sacrifice The Source Of Life: The song opens with an amazing piano solo, which goes for about one and a half minutes . The riifs are once again excellent and so are the guitar melodies. The pianos also create an excellent epic effect. The song is basically midpaced but doesn't get boring. At the seventh minute mark the pace increases several notches, though for a short time. The song ends as it started with the piano solo.

Though the music may be highly melodic for gentlemen listening to regular black metal, but this EP is excellently crafted. The music is highly enjoyable and that is it's greatest strength. So this EP is not only recommended to fans of black metal music, but for all every other guy who listens heavy metal.

"Macabrum je se izrodio kao plod internacionalne suradnje izmedju G.D.-a iz Vukovara i A.S.-a iz Banja Luke. Cilj im je stvarati ambientalno depresivni black metal. Dosada su objavili jedan EP "Epoch" prosle godine, a upravo danas su pustili na besplatano skidanje svoj novi singl imenom "Grief". Sastoji se iz kratkog goticko pijanistickog instrumentalnog intra "I", glavne pjesme "Monument of eternal grief" i zavrsnog Dissection piano covera "Somberlain". I moram priznati da mi je se ovaj single vise svidio nego predhodni. Posebno radi glavne pjesme EP-a "Monument of eternal grief". Kao sto oni sami kazu, u cilju im je praviti ambientalni i depresivni black metal. Sad, kad se pomisli na rijec "depresivni", misli se u normali na nesto negativno. Ali, ili sam ja poludio, ili u ovoj pjesmi nije nista depresivno u negativnom smislu. Naprotiv, ona sa svojim jakim melodijama i odlicnim grawl vokalom na mene ostavlja vrlo ugodan i opustajuci utisak. I ako ovakav bude njihov dugo najavljivani i ocekivani album, onda bi im bilo bolje da pozure s njim. I cover samo da bude jos u ovom stilu..."

Pa pjesma je kul ali bunjar vam je nekako ukočen, ne osjeća gruv i stalno udara činele na isti način i u istu tačku. Kako je moguće da je tako bezosjećajan kad je u isto vrijeme majstor za brze prelaze po timpanima?
Trebali bi reći tom gitaristi koji svira clean razlaganja da prestane svirati na midi gitarama i kupi sebi jednu pravu.

Review:
This is one of the strangest releases I've listened to lately, Macabrum is a duo from Bosnia and Herzegovina formed last year and this is their first effort. In the presentation sheet they say they have the purpose to create atmospheric and depressive Black Metal, but if so they certainly failed with this release. the music is a combination of Black Metal (on vocals and pace) with Hard Rock riffs and leads and that's most probably from the equipment they use not adapted for Black Metal at all. The lyrics and vocals are pretty good, but the guitar tone is simply blocking this band on expressing what they want and state...
