The nF2 400
(chipset na A7N8X-X) is a single DDR channel solution, unlike its bigger brother, nF2 400Ultra
(chipset na A7N8X). However, as our tests shown
(pogledati onaj gif dole), the benefit of dual DDR channel configuration on AMD platform is minimal, unless you are using the integrated graphics core. Remember, the system can only be as fast as its slowest link. In AMD's case, the Alpha EV6 bus is the bottleneck in a dual DDR channel configuration.
The highly hyped dual bank DDR technology is nearly useless in reality. From the figures above,
it offers around 0-2% performance gain over single bank configuration. The EV6 bus is having a hard time supplying the required bandwidth, on the other hand, the P4 CPUs could benefit from the dual bank DDR configuration due to the QDP architecture. Note: The dual bank DDR would become useful if onboard graphics card is utilized.
